Protecting the Setting of Stoney Littleton Long Barrow

Stoney Littleton Long Barrow is a Neolithic burial chamber close to Wellow, and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It is around 5,500 years old, making it the 27th oldest extant building in the world. It is visited by thousands of people each year.

This image shows the proposed turbines at Baggridge, as viewed from the Long Barrow.

Preserving Wellow Together

We support the transition to clean energy, but in a way that maximises efficiency and minimises damage to our landscape of exceptional archaeological and cultural sensitivity.

A Friends of the Earth report concludes that sensitive landscapes such as ours can be kept free from wind and solar projects, while still generating ten times more electricity from these sources than is currently needed for all households in the country.
